Pastor Bernard and Minister Jackie Wesley have been married over twenty-six years, they have a combined family of three adult sons, and they have five grandchildren. Life developed for them out of a work friendship, which turned into a relationship two years later. After courtship they realized they were a perfect match in family values, life and in love. They were a combined family living as one raised their three sons on Christian values. As our lives developed as husband and wife, we also shared serving in ministry together in all that we do, so for twenty-six years we have ministered to marriages, to the homeless and the addicted. It was our calling to being sensitive to those issues any of us could encounter.
Our marriage is based on the Christian love, Christian values, and Christian beliefs. Through our Christian journey we have experienced great sickness with Jackie’s health since 2003. Jackie was diagnosed with stage IIIB breast cancer and endured a six-year battle with cancer, but God healed her from cancer and continues to show himself as a Healer in her life and to their family.
Both being from military backgrounds Bernard has one brother and spent the beginning of his life traveling from state to state as his father the late Rev. Aubrey Wesley & Laura Wesley was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. Jackie is the youngest of five girls and has four brothers her father the late Jefferson & Ruth Haskins was U.S. Army retired to the Mid-West.
Consequently, they both accepted Christ at the age of ten. Pastor Bernard’s family was one of the four founding families of King Baptist Church in Denver Colorado. Minister Jackie experienced Christ at a youth revival in Gary Ind. They both rededicated themselves to Christ in their twenties and have been working in ministry continuously.
Pastor Bernard worked in several areas of the church for over forty years: from janitorial services (with wife and children) for twenty years, vocational bible school teacher for fifteen years, President of the Men’s Ministry seventeen years, Ordained Deacon for twelve years to now a licensed Minister since 2007. He is licensed within two different denominations, Baptist Doctrine and Non-Denominational Doctrine. Min. Jackie served in the Women’s Ministry for over fifteen years, choir, and a licensed Deaconess and now licensed as a Minister in the Non-Denominational ministry in 2019.
During his tenor in his young adult life one of his greatest accomplishments was being King Baptist Church Annual Community Event Project Manager for the Choir assisting in the first and only recorded album in the church’s 50-year history. The project included Grammy Award Artist Phillip Bailey and National Recording Artist Oliver Wells; the album is still being played today!
One of Jackie’s greatest accomplishments in her journey of life is her nonprofit organization Fighting Together to Save Lives, dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and the disparities women of color face with the disease. However, this disease does not discriminate. She is an advocate for all women and men who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Together they are now the new Pastor’s and First Lady of Word of Truth Christian Fellowship Church!
